On January 4th 2012 Leeds Silver Doves [advanced Leeds citywide youth steelband] played for the North of England Education Conference in the Savile Rooms at Leeds Royal Armouries. Seven of the eight Doves were present or ex-City of Leeds School students. They played for 2 hours as delegates arrived at the conference. Conference organiser, Mark Hopkins and Business manager Suzanne Caine wrote:

We are writing to thank you for your fantastic performance at the above conference which delighted our delegates as they arrived.   It was impossible to listen to your wonderful playing without feeling revitalised and uplifted.  You provided a fantastic welcome to the conference and we hope you enjoyed the experience.

On February 8th 2012 Leeds Silver Doves were invited to play the Bradford Primary Prom for Music For Youth. The event which was open to all primary schools in Bradford was at St George’s Hall. Compere for the day was Barney from Children’s TV, which, for two Doves was possibly more exciting than playing at this national event. . This time six of the eight players were present or ex COLS students.
